Cooke wins first World Cup Series title with new world recordMay 12th May, 13
After placing the fastest time in the pool in the second event of the Men’s Final at World Cup #4 in Budapest, Hungary, Great Britain’s Jamie Cooke recorded a perfect ride to find himself in fourth position overall with just the combined to go. It simply was his day as some sublime shooting, which included a world record, put him on his way to his maiden victory in a World Cup Series event.
Adam Marosi is king of the ride

Punching the air in delight as he recorded a perfect ride around the course, the Hungarian Olympic bronze medallist Adam Marosi, lapped up the applause of the crowd with the knowledge that he was now in the best possible position for a shot at gold with just the combined to go.

An extremely strong Men’s Final made for unpredictable results as the Czech Republic’s Michal Sedlecky came out on top in the fence and South Korea’s Jinhwa Jung finds first in the provisional leaderboard after World record holder James Cooke from Great Britain edged out his rivals in the pool.
18 nations qualify for the Men’s Final

There were bunch finishes in each of the three Men’s Qualification groups in the combined events today at World Cup #4 in Budapest, Hungary. From 80 athletes competing, 36 made it to Sunday’s Final with 18 nations set to be represented.
Hwang ahead in Group B before combined

Woojin Hwang, who celebrated his 23rd birthday just two days ago, confirmed his fine form this season with a quality start in the Men’s Qualification Group B. The World Cup #3 Chengdu silver medallist first place in the fence, with 19 victories on the pistes, and his second place in the pool, put him in a commanding position ahead of the combined.

23-year -old South Korean University student Jinhwa Jung managed to pip his compatriot Woojin Hwang to top spot in the pool with a time of 1:58:34, three hundreds of a second ahead of his teammate. Jung’s exploits saw him claim 1380 points.
Ready and raring to go at UIPM World #4 Budapest

The stunning city of Budapest in Hungary will from today be hosting some of the world’s top pentathletes in a competition that is sure to set the pulses racing. With the teams having arrived for this UIPM 2013 World Cup #4, which lasts from 9 to 13 May, the press conference was held at Pasaréti Honvéd Lovarda, the venue for the Final’s riding and combined events, and once again it attracted a host of national journalists.
Mixed Relay gold goes to Belarus

Experienced Belarusian Hanna Vasilionak and her young partner Raman Pichuk brought the UIPM World Cup #3 in Chengdu, China, to a close with victory in the final event of the competition. After starting second in the combined, Pichuk overtook the Chinese leader on the final lap to cross the line first, claiming the Mixed Relay title in style at the Pierre de Coubertin Modern Pentathlon Stadium.
