Now 8 months on 4 Youth Olympic Games athlates are here in Sassari, Italy competing in their first Senior World Cup:
- Jorge Abraham Camacho (MEX) YOG Bronze Medalist
- Jiahao Han (CHN)
- Aleix Heredia Vives (ESP)
- Gloria Tochi (ITA)
Aleix Heredia Vives who is competing in his first World Cup said: The Youth Olympic Games was a fantastic experience, to be in the village with all the best athletes in the world my age was something I will never forget. It gave me the motivation top train much harder to be able to make it back to this level again, especially the senior Olympic games. The pressure and tension was much different from other events, this has given the experience to perform better on bigger occasions. Overall the Youth Olympic Games was great and I am now looking forward to competing on the senior circuit.
Other Youth Olympic Games athletes to graduate to the senior World Cup Series have been:
- Nathan Schrimsher (USA)
- Jhian El Midany (EGY)
- Mariana Laporte (BRA)
- William Muinhos (BRA)
This proves that the inaugural Youth Olympic Games has been an outstanding success in nurturing new talent into the rigors of the full time professional circuit as they learn commitment, dedication, ability to deal with pressure and competing in tough environments.
