Experienced Belarusian Hanna Vasilionak and her young partner Raman Pichuk brought the UIPM World Cup #3 in Chengdu, China, to a close with victory in the final event of the competition. After starting second in the combined, Pichuk overtook the Chinese leader on the final lap to cross the line first, claiming the Mixed Relay title in style at the Pierre de Coubertin Modern Pentathlon Stadium.
China’s Yufei Bian and Jiahao Han moved up into gold medal position with just the combined to go after coming first in the riding event. The duo will now hope that they can keep their nerve and give the fans at the Modern Pentathlon Pierre de Coubertin Stadium the perfect finish to the day.
The Russian duo of Alise Fakhrutdinova and Sergeui Karyakin remain top of the leader board in the Mixed Relay after accumulating 2388 points from two events.
With 40 bouts won from 56, the Russian duo of Alise Fakhrutdinova and Sergeui Karyakin ensured they took control early on in the Mixed Relay with victory in the fencing event. The two have great chemistry and seemed to be really enjoying themselves on the pistes of the Modern Pentathlon Pierre de Coubertin Stadium in Chengdu.
At the Pierre de Coubertin Modern Pentathlon Stadium, Ukraine celebrated winning the double today, with Pavlo Tymoshchenko adding the Men’s gold medal to the Women’s one Ganna Buryak won at the UIPM World Cup #3 yesterday.
Russia’s Serguei Karyakin was the man with the fastest time in the second event of the day with the 25-year-old clocking up 2:01:53 in the water to move up to second overall with two events still to go in the Men’s Final at World Cup 3 in Chengdu.
Ukraine’s Pavlo Tymoshchenko was in fine form in the first event of day in the Men’s Final in Chengdu, China, with the 26-year-old Military man claiming 26 wins from 35 bouts to top the leader board with 1024 points before the swim.
It was a day to remember for Ganna Buryak from Ukraine yesterday with the 23-year-old triumphing in the Women’s Final of World Cup #3 at the Pierre de Coubertin Modern Pentathlon Stadium in Chengdu. Some sharp-shooting and quick feet in the blustery conditions ensured she took her place amongst the pantheon of senior champions after finishing ahead of Chinese duo Wanxia Liang and Wei Wang to claim gold.
