Japanese athlete Rena Shimazu (JPN) continued her dream day by also having a perfect ride to move above Margaux Isaksen (USA) who knocked down 2 rails and will start 1st in the combined event.
With Shimazu being weak in the combined event, the main battle for gold will now between the 2 speedsters on the track and the favourites for the event Isaksen and Esposito.
Isaksen will start 4 seconds behind Shimazu with Esposito being a further 3 seconds back and the current Youth A World Champion Tamara Vega (MEX) a further 2 seconds back after making up for her poor ride at London 2012 with 1180 points.
Looking at the past statistics, Esposito should easily beat Isaksen for gold as she on average is 16 seconds faster in the combined than Isaksen and her PB is 6 seconds faster. However anything can happen when running for a major title and Isaksen has more experience after already winning the Youth A World Championships, Pan American and Champion of Champions titles.
