The Pentathlon and Tetrathlon club of Györ were the organisers of this fantastic competition with the professional backup from the Hungarian Modern Pentathlon Federation.
The active female masters athlete Zsuzsa Kowács (who also took gold in pentathlon 50-59 year) together with Antal Riegler and a lot of dedicated local sports people did their utmost to make us feel as sport-celebrities. We could feel that our spo rt has a very high reputation in Hungary and in the city. Even the mayor of the city Borkai Zsolt, a former Olympic champion, was with at the opening ceremony and also at the winners ceremony.
The competition
All the horses and the riding parlour at the Farm Pirik were very good. The shooting event was on electronic targets in the “old fashion” way, which the majority of the masters still prefer.
The final running event was on a good surface suited for Masters legs built around the fencing hall. On a sunny afternoon the spectators could see why many Masters from all age groups must still do hard training to run such good times.
To be a Masters athlete is a way of living, but you can not be in the game without daily sweat,
I think that’s the way, we love it to be.
