Athletes who have already qualified for the 2012 London Olympic Games were invited to this UIPM initiative. The Chinese camps included: Cao Zhongrong, Wang Guan, Chen Qian Miao Yihua from China, Australians: Chloe Esposito & Edward Fernon and Soo jin Yang (KOR) & Shinichi Tomii (JPN)
The athletes were trained in many areas:
- Flat Work: Improving their jumping position, their ability to ride corners, approach to the obstacle and developing a better rhythm on the horse.
- Jumping obstacles: Up right, parallel and combination jumps. Practising completing a whole course of obstacles at the height required for Modern Pentathlon which is 1.2 metres.
Australia's Oceania Champion Chloe Esposito said “It’s been fantastic to ride two different horse every day, and would like to thank the UIPM for providing a pentathlon riding opportunity to help my Olympic preparation.”
There will be additional riding camps in Europe prior to the Olympics next year.
