Sarah is President of PiggyBankKids having founded the charity in 2002 with the aim of giving children in the UK the best possible opportunity to live healthy and happy lives.
She recruited Lorraine Kelly when the ITV presenter asked what she could do to help the charity.
The pair have already started training for the challenge, which will take place at Pentathlon GB’s High Performance Centre at the University of Bath. Britain’s top modern pentathletes are currently training at the University ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Sarah and Lorraine will tackle the disciplines that make up the Olympic sport of modern pentathlon – fencing, swimming, riding and a run/shoot - all in one day.
Their progress is being charted on Lorraine’s ITV1 morning show Lorraine and they have already raised almost £6000 for PiggyBankKids.
“Lorraine and Sarah have taken on a tough challenge,” said Jon Austin, Pentathlon GB Chief Executive.
“Pentathlon GB is pleased to be associated with such a worthwhile charity as PiggyBankKids and it’s also a great opportunity to raise awareness of modern pentathlon as we approach the London 2012 Olympic Games.”
The competition between the pair is part of the Gold Challenge, the UK’s Olympic and Paralympic sport-based charity challenge that is part of the London 2012 legacy programme.
