They were welcomed with a traditional ¨Kazak welcome¨ at the Rostov Hippodrome where the Riding and Combined Event will take place, by Mr. Sergey Leontyev, Vice President of the ROSTOV Modern Pentathlon Federation and Mr. Igor Zozulja, General Manager of the World Cup Local Organising Committee. Following the description of the venue plan and the operations a presentation of the impressive ROSTOV horse breed followed.
The Fencing and the 50m indoor Swimming pool (300m apart), two brand new renovated facilities were visited. The official Hotels were visited and a long meeting with all operational details finished the second day of the Pre Visit. The Russian Federation Competition Director Mr. Edward Zenovka will move to Rostov from the 5 of April to work with the LOC to prepare the technical details but also the venues.
The local community is already informed and posters and Banners will be placed in all the city promoting the competition. Of course the main figure of the banners will be the Rostov Hero Andrei Moiseev, Double Olympic Gold Medallist and current European and World Champion.
Modern Pentathlon is one of the strongest sports in this region and the Local Modern Pentathlon Federation achieved to add into the 2018 Football World Cup constructions a Modern Pentathlon Centre which will be ready around 2016-2017.
The Rostov Local Organising committee is excited to host a UIPM World Cup and have prepared along with the Russian Modern Pentathlon Federation a high level plan to host the athletes and officials that will come to Rostov from 18-23 April 2012. Rostov is a Historical City and the River Don is very famous for his beauty especially at Spring time.
Don’t miss to follow the last World Cup for the 2012 season which will determine the participants of the World Cup Final in Chengdu in the end of May and of course will give valuable qualification points to the athletes who still chase the Olympic qualification.
