It was the diminutive Korean Daem Boem Kim who made his mark early in the day with a second place finish in the fence putting him alongside the starting pack in the combined after a solid swim. Under the watchful eye of his coach and teammates, he dealt with the sweltering conditions well and two good rounds with the pistol gave him the perfect platform with which to cross the finish tape first.
Mexico’s Jorge Abraham Camacho impressed in the combined as he overtook several of his rivals to finish second whilst the home crowd gave a loud cheer as Hungary’s Bence Harangzo came in third. The South American contingent showed they mean business as Brazil’s Felipe Nascimiento recorded the fifth fastest time around the course to finish fourth. Woojin Lee, who has been ever present in the Senior ranks this season, was fifth overall.
Sunday will see one of the 36 Men crowned Junior World Champion.
