With the competition schedule altered due to heavy winds caused by Typhoon Trami, the fencing and swimming events only took place today at the Fengshan Stadium in Kaohsiung City.
23-year-old Khokhlova went onto to claim 2168 points over two events to move ahead in Group A, a mere 12 points ahead of her compatriot and recent Junior World Championships silver medallist Anastasiya Spas in second place. 2008 Beijing Olympic Champion Lena Schoneborn is third after showing her prowess with the epée to win the fence.
Group A’s fastest swimmer was unsuprinsingly Elodie Clouvel who clocked up a time of 2:09.71 and is now fifth overall. Korea’s Soojin Yang is in 4th place.
Russia’s Liudmila Kukushkina is sixth and Great Britain’s Freya Prentice is just behind her in 7th place. European Champion Zsofia Foldhazi is sitting pretty in 8th after she came second in the swim. London Olympic Games bronze medallist Yane Marques is 9th overall and Alise Fakhrutdinova from Russian makes up the Top 10.
