News65th UIPM Congress looks to the future

The 65th Annual UIPM Modern Pentathlon Congress, which took place in Limassol, Cyprus, this weekend, saw delegates from almost 50 countries present as the nations planned towards the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The Executive Board also got together in the two days prior to the Congress.

USA’s Isaksen reigns supreme with victory at Champion of Champions

Some strong running in the final event of the day at the Al Shaqab Centre ensured Margaux Isaksen of USA retained her title at Champion of Champions in style. Having started the combined in fourth position, she was composed with her shooting and after taking the lead in the penultimate lap, she accelerated and demonstrated her blistering pace to leave her pursuers with too much to do to catch up. The 22-year-old’s victory ensured she went home with the 3000 USD winner’s cheque, courtesy of RAM Watches.

UIPM make 2014 World Championships site visit to Poland

Earlier this week, UIPM President Dr Klaus Schormann, along with Sports Director Janusz Peciak and Event Director Karen Myers travelled to Spala, in Poland, to visit the facilities of the Olympic sports Centre which will host the 2014 Modern Pentathlon World Championships from 14-26 September next year.

The rain and cold weather was not enough to dampen the spirit of all the children who took part in this year’s edition of the World School Biathlon Swiss Cup. Despite the conditions, the competition was held outdoors and there were smiles all around with many getting their first taste of a multi-discipline event.

The 10 member committee is chaired by the Sport Director who is an Executive Board member. The Committee overseas all the rules governing the sport and makes recommendations for changes to the rules, competition format and technical requirements to the Executive Board. The Committee appoints 2 members to attend each of the Category A competitions and other high level competitions to ensure that the competitions are conducted according to the rules and regulations.
