World #1 and 2012 Olympic Medallists all through to Friday’s FinalFeb 20th Feb, 13
For the first time on the world level, the new format Combined Event took place now consisting of 4 laps of 800 meters running interspersed by 4 shooting series (still of 5 shots) and a new time out limit for shooting, dropping from 70 to 50 seconds. Olympic Champion David Svoboda (CZE) said "I am glad for the change; for the last 4 years had 3 shooting series; now shooting is more important. My team is very strong in shooting so we are happy to have this extra shooting round."
Lesun leads Group A and Kasza Group B for the Combined Event

Jospeh Evans (GBR) produced the fastest swim time from Group A in a time of 2:01.77 a second faster than Maksim Kustov (RUS) Winner of the fencing Aleksander Lesun (RUS) had a disappointing swim finishing 11th, however this was still enough to keep him at the top of the leaders board going into the combined event. The World #1 will start 2 seconds ahead of Alvaro Sandoval (MEX) who finished 2nd in the fence & 6th in the swim. Daniel Thomas (AUT) and Samuel Curry (GBR) will both start 12 seconds behind Lesun. In Group B, Hungarian Robert Kasza’s win in the Fencing with 17 bouts puts him 9 seconds ahead Omar El Geziry who came 3rd in the Fence with 16 bouts. Joint 1st in the Fence was Alexander Nobis (GER) whilst Jianli Guo of China will start the Combined 13 seconds behind Kasza thanks to his 5th place in the Fencing following the 4th fastest swim

Lesun Dominates Men's Final Fence

World #1 Aleksander Lesun (RUS) has bounced back from his poor fencing performance at World Cup #1 to dominate the fencing in the men’s World Cup #2 final. The Russian scored 25 victories and only 10 defeats to earn 1000 points. Lesun finished 3 victories ahead of Denis Cerkovskis (LAT) and Omar El Geziry (EGY) who you can see his interview below. Olympic Champion Andrei Moiseev (RUS) was next back in 4th place, 4 victories behind his team mate.
