Svoboda Equals Olympic Record to Win FenceAug 11th Aug, 12
David Svoboda from the Czech Republic has won the fencing competition of the modern pentathlon at the London 2012 Olympics, with 26 victories from his 35 bouts. His performance equalled the Olympic record for fencing. Svoboda got off to a flying start, winning his first seven contests at the Copper Box venue at the Olympic Park.

Jin-Woo Hong (KOR) has had a strong combined event to win the Asian/Oceanian Championships today in Chengdu, China. Hong sprinted away with the title ahead of local favourite Zhongrong Cao (CHN) who led going into the combined event and Jinhwa Jung (KOR) who had to settle for silver and bronze respectively.
