Development of Modern Pentathlon in New Zealand
Mar 29th Mar, 11
In late 2007, Colin VanZyl had an idea. At the time, he was the father of two talented teenage athletes. Amanda and Gideon were good fencers, they could run and swim, they knew how to ride, and he felt sure they could learn to shoot. They were well on their way to Modern Pentathlon! He checked into it. There were no dedicated facilities, no coaches in place, no local club or national structure for the sport in New Zealand. Unintimidated, Colin quite simply decided there was work to be done.

However in modern pentathlon when you put together a nearly perfect performance as the Guatemalans did, everything is possible.

Something amazing and exiting is joining the Modern Pentathlon Family - Down under a highly motivated and passionate team of parents succeeded founding a National Federation of Modern Pentathlon. The basic structures are established due to their enthusiasm and after such a hard work having been done. New Zealand might contribute to enlarge the Modern Pentathlon Family by important parameters as from now.
