Golis Win's Swim but Lesun to Start 1st in Combined in Group A

Aleksander Lesun (RUS) has finished 8th in the swim to have a commanding 19 second lead going into the combined event over Mikalai Hayanouski (BLR). Remigiusz Golis (POL) won the swimming event in an impressive time of 1.54,18 ahead of Amro El Geziry (EGY) who has now moved into 3rd position heading into the combined event. Current World Champion Serguei Karyakin (RUS) has had a solid day and will start in 4th position.

World #1 Aleksander Lesun (RUS) is taking no chances of missing out on qualification again like World Cup #1 by dominating the fencing event in Group A. 2 victories less was bronze medalist from World Cup #1 Mikalai Hayanouski (BLR) and 4 more victories than 2010 World Champion Serguei Karayakin (RUS). 2009 European Champion Ondrej Polivka (CZE) poor form has continued as he sits down in 24th position.

Pavlo Tymoshchenko (UKR) has won his first ever World Cup Gold Medal in Rancho Mirage, USA and has also broken the overall shooting World Record in a remarkable time of 43 seconds for 15 shots. He out shot and out ran World #3 Adam Marosi (HUN) who grabbed silver and the biggest surprise of the day was World Ranked #174 Mikalai Hayanouski (BLR) who stormed home to beat his more fancied rivals for Bronze.
Group 1 Update

Mikalai Hayanouski (BRL) leads the way in Group 1 after 2 events heading into the Combined Event 1 second ahead of Pavlo Tymoshchenko (UKR) and 7 seconds ahead of World #4 Justinas Kinderis (LTU). One of the events favourites David Svoboda is back in 9th position, however his strong Combined Event will ensure he will easily finish in the top 12. However the local US stars have not had a good day in the Desert with Eli Bremer and William Brady back in 18th and 21st positions respectively and face an uphill battle to get into the final.
