Lanigan O'Keeffe Fires to Win Fencing
Sep 8th Sep, 12
Arthur Lanigan O’Keeffe (IRL) has coped with the pressure of being one of the favourites beautifully by winning the fencing with 25V & 10D. The Irishman was 2 victories ahead of Andrea Pucciariello (ITA) and Martin Bilko (CZE) who will be pleased of how they coped on the world biggest stage. The dangerous French pair of Valentin Prades and Valentin Belaud are a further victory back and the superstar of the field Ilya Sugarov (RUS) is still in contention finishing just 4 victories behind O’Keeffe. As usual defending champion Jamie Cooke (GBR) has left himself some work to do, finishing 27th, 11 victories behind the winner. However, this was exactly the same score he posted last year in the fencing before he won the championships, so don't count him out just yet.
