Anastasiya Spas (UKR) and Ilya Shugarov (RUS) have created history by taking Gold in the first ever Modern Pentathlon Mixed Relay Event at the First ever Youth Olympic Games with a combined total of 4638 points. Spas & Shugarov outlasted Kim Dae Beom (KOR) and his partner Zhu Wenjing (CHN) who grabbed Silver and Gulnaz Gubaydullina (RUS) and Lukas Kontrimavicius (LTU) who claimed a well deserved Bronze.

The pair of Anastasiya Spas (UKR) and Ilya Shugarov (RUS) has lead from the start to the finish to easily win the Mixed Relay at the Youth Olympic Games. The pairs of Dilyara Ilyassova (KAZ) and Aleix Heredia (ESP) and Ela Sehave (KAZ) and Valentin Prades (ESP) were a distant 7 victories behind. After 10 rounds of the Mixed Relay fencing competition the pair of Anastasiya Spas (UKR) and Ilya Shugarov (RUS) who claimed the bronze and silver medal respectively in the individual event still lead the competition with 26 victories. Ela Sedilekova (SVK) and Valentin Prades (FRA) are one behind in 2nd place. The surprise package of the event has been The pair of Anna Maliszewska (POL) and Todd Renfree (AUS) who are in 3rd position despise their poor showing in the individual competition.

The Mixed Draw for the first ever Mixed Relay at Olympic Level has been completed at Singapore Sports School Yesterday. The draw was completed by UIPM’s Dr h.c. Klaus Schormann and UIPM Secretary General Mr Joël Bouzou. Some interesting pairs include current World Youth Champion Chinese Jiahao Han and American Anna Olesinski, Mexican Abraham Camacho and Irish Emily Greenan. This event is going to be a fantsic way for the pairs to learn about each others cultures and countries.
