Gold for Belarus in Men's Relay

Belarus have beat a strong field to become Men’s Relay World Champions today at Pierre de Coubertin Modern Pentathlon Centre in Chengdu, China. The Belarus team of Mikhail Mitsyk, Mihail Propkopenko and Dzmitry Meliakh held off a spirited Korean team made up of Hwonho Jung, Dong-Hun Nam and Soengjin Kim who overcame a 10 second penalty in the Combined Event to grab Silver and a star studded Russian team made up of double Olympic Champion Andrei Moiseev, 2008 World Champion Ilia Frolov and Silver medallist from the individual event Aleksander Lesun who had to settle for Bronze.
Korea Top After Swim

The Korean pair of Soo jin Yang and Soengjin Kim has produced a very quick swim to shoot to the top of the leaders board in the mixed relay event. They are followed by the strong Polish pair of Sylvia Czwojdzinska and Remigiusz Golis with the winners from the fencing Latvia dropping back to 4th position after finishing back in 14th position in the swim. Group B Swimming

British youngster James Cooke has blitzed the field in the swim in Group B with a very fast time of 1:57,18. Junior World #1 Remigiusz Golis was second in also a great time of 1:59,46. They were followed by Zhongrong Cao (CHN) and Soengjin Kim (KOR). European Champion David Svoboda (CEZ) finished in a respectable 9th position.
Demeter Strikes Gold at WJCH

Hungarian Bence Demeter has matched his countrywomen’s Kovacs performance to be crowed Junior World Champion today in Hungary. Demeter had a perfect day, coming second in the fencing, 14th in his weakest event the swim and had a perfect ride to easily beat silver medalist Maurin Holyst (FRA) who won the fencing in the combined event. Korean Soengjin Kim (KOR) grabbed bronze ahead of Junior World #1 Remigiusz Golis (POL) and James Cooke (GBR) who were both the pre event favourites. Kim’s Bronze medal helped the strong Korean team to the team gold ahead of Russia who had a solid day but missing out on individual medals and Holyst’s Silver meant France claimed the Bronze medal.
Kim Claims Swim

Soengjin Kim (KOR) has produced a personal best display to win the swimming event in the World Cup Final in Berlin. Kim swam 2:01.82 which was over a second faster than Andrejus Zadneprovskis (LTU) and Bruno Merle (FRA) in second and third respectively. The fencing winner Aleksander Lesun (RUS) was back in 10th position, however this was good enough to keep his commanding lead at the top of the ladder. Zadneprovskis’s second position in the swimming and his fourth place in the fencing has earned him second position going into the ride.
