The state of the art facilities at the Pierre de Coubertin Modern Pentathlon Stadium in Chengdu welcomed a whole host of journalists from across China this morning for the UIPM World Cup #3 Press Conference. All eager to learn about the sport’s new format and see first-hand what was in store during the five-day competition, the local and national media delegates were very inquisitive.

Svoboda Equals Olympic Record to Win Fence

David Svoboda from the Czech Republic has won the fencing competition of the modern pentathlon at the London 2012 Olympics, with 26 victories from his 35 bouts. His performance equalled the Olympic record for fencing. Svoboda got off to a flying start, winning his first seven contests at the Copper Box venue at the Olympic Park.
