World Champion Serguei Karyakin (RUS) World #4 Ilia Frolov (RUS) and World #5 Justinas Kinderis (LTU) have shocked everyone and failed to qualify from group C. They all had a terrible combined event to finish outside the top 12, which portrays just how strong this competition is. The Hungarian pair of Robert Kaza and Junior World Champion Bence Demeter looked the most impressive from the group in the delight of the local crowd. Nick Woodbridge capped off a successful qualification day for the British team with 3 out of the 4 boys qualifying, better than World Cup #2 where they failed to qualify one.
