2010 Congress
During the 2010 UIPM Congress in Riga Latvia, held on 6 November 2010 a motion linked to a rules change in order providing for an obligatory use of laser shooting at all Olympic Qualification Competitions and the 2012 London Olympic Games did not obtain the 2/3 majority needed by the Member Federations for approval.
[ Read more... ]The 2010 UIPM Congress has been completed today in Riga, Latvia with Member Federations from all 5 Continents participating.
Several important discussions and discussions were made, with the most historic being a clear statement from all nations their 100% support for the environmentally friendly laser shooting technology being the future of Modern Pentathlon.
Other significant topics included:
- Strategy for Sponsorship and Television.
- Strategy for the development of Modern Pentathlon across the world of all ages.
- UIPM Medical Committee Chairman now has a right to vote on the Executive Board.
- Business Affairs Delegate Election: Slava Malishev (GEO), Tamas Varga (HUN), Imre Tiidemann (EST) & Stefano Giommoni (ITA)
- Technical Committee Election: Corine Bouzou (FRA)
- Sport Director Election: José Santos (POR)
UIPM President Dr h.c. Klaus Schormann stated “I am extremely satisfied about the results from this years Congress. There were good discussions with delegates from all the 5 Continents taking part. With the decision for the Laser Shooting technology we can now develop the sport in all Youth and Junior Competitions World wide with the new laser technology”.
[ Read more... ]The 2010 UIPM Congress will be held on 5-7 November in Riga, Latvia. The Congress will be attended by nations from all 5 Continents. This will be a historic Congress as the nations will be voting on the important issues that stand to shape the future of Modern Pentathlon.
The most biggest issue is that of Laser Shooting. The Congress will vote on whether Laser Shooting, which made it’s successful debut at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games will be used from 1 January 2011 in the Olympic qualification competitions and ultimately at the 2012 London Olympic Games at Greenwich Park and 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.
[ Read more... ]The 2010 UIPM Congress will be held on 4-7 November in Riga, Latvia. The Congress will be attended by 40 countries and approximately 110 people. These nations will be voting on the important issues that stand to shape the future of Modern Pentathlon:
- Future of laser system; implementing and using laser in the competitions of Modern pentathlon
- Qualification system for 2012th London Olympic Games
- UIPM President Dr h.c. Klaus Schormann already has informed and announced the benefits of implementing of laser system during the 1st World Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.
There is a press conference scheduled on 4th of November from 13:00 to 14:00 in Riga with a participation of Dr h.c.Klaus Schormann and the main members from Latvian sports organizations – LOC, LMPF, Riga Municipality etc.
