Laser Shooting
UIPM has been informed that Olympic Technology and Results provider, Omega have appointed Simpower as the Precision Laser Target provider for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
[ Read more... ]All UIPM nations were invited to send coaches, officials and athletes to Sicily to take part in the inaugural Laser Shooting Seminar on 27-28 October 2011.
Here they were taught by industry experts everything there is to do with the newly implemented laser shooting.
At the seminar, the 3 companies currently producing laser targets presented their products to the attendees. Some companies also did demonstrations and described how their product worked. This included demonstrating their software, the technical specification of their targets and the usability.
The final part of the seminar was an in depth question and answer session . Here everybody was able to get all their queries about how the system works such as does different gungs work on different targets, how does the software work? How does sun light affect the target and many more.
UIPM would like to thank the Italian Modern Pentathlon Federation for organising this seminar and we hope this is the 1st of many!

With the new laser technology the shooting discipline now works without any pellets / bullets (lead). In the past the firearms polluted the air with gas and heavy metals in the gunpowder. Making the change to go to Air pistol was a first step but it kept the lead "pollution" of the pellets for the grounds / environment) so Laser Shooting is the ultimate way to have environmentally friendly shooting for our great sport.
