2011 Newsletters
For the final newsletter of 2011 we look back at the fantastic 2011 season. As one year finishes another starts, as Pentathlete’s get into their preseason training for 2012. We look at the new sponsorship agreement signed with RAM and we get our first look at the 2012 World Cup Series logo. Simpower was selected as the laser provider for the London 2012 Games and UIPM moves to the no needle policy. Finally, as always we look at the activities of President Schormann and Secretary General Bouzou.

[ Read more... ]November saw the end of the Modern Pentathlon competition season with the Junior World Championships in Buenos Aires, which resulted in Sarolta Kovacs (HUN) defend her title from 2010 and Jamie Cooke (GBR) winning his 1st.
The world's Modern Pentathlon heads got together in Nice for the 63rd UIPM Congress which was opened by UIPM Honorary President Prince Albert II of Monaco. During the Congress UIPM signed an historic MOU with CISM and Cristine Bouthers was awarded the prestigious Medal of Honour.
We look at the first stage of the riding camps and the best competitions of 2011 as awarded by New Balance. UIPM’s Secretary General Joël Bouzou is elected as WOA President and as usual we look at the busy month of President Schormann and Secretary General Bouzou.

[ Read more... ]September saw the year’s highlight competition, the Senior World Championships take place in Moscow Russia, where all the disciplines (except for swimming which was across the road) were held under one roof. Russia was treated to their favourite son, double Olympic Champion Andrei Moiseev claiming his 1st World Championships crown. Mother of 1 Victoria Tereshuk (RUS) won the Women’s title as well as the Mixed Relay gold with Dmytro Kirpulyanskyy and Hungary won both the Men’s and Women’s relay championships.
There was no rest for the junior athletes after this event as the European Junior Championships were held the following week in Poland, here the reigning Junior World Champions Bence Demeter (HUN) and Sarolta Kovacs (HUN) became the Junior European Championships. Sofia hosted the Biathle World Champions where South Africa won the title of best Biathle nation. UIPM announced the 2011 Champion of Champions event and also the 2012 competition calendar. Finally as always we follow the activities of President Schormann and Secretary Bouzou.

[ Read more... ]August was all about the Youth with the Youth A World Championships being held in Turkey. Vega and Kukarin were crowned the best Youth athletes on the planet and also 3 teams won gold medals in the relays. After the European Championships 16 athletes secured their qualification to the London Olympics at the European Championships and we here their reactions. We review the USA National Championships and UIPM upgrade the laser shooting system to hit and miss to precision. We learn details from the UIPM Technical Committee meeting and also the Anti-Doping Seminar held in Turkey. Pentathlon.org reaches 250,000 visitors in 2011 and we follow the month of President Schormann and Secretary General Bouzou. Finally we celebrate UIPM Board Member Georgina Harland’s wedding.
[ Read more... ]July has been the busiest Modern Pentathlon month of the year so far. First we had the World Cup Final which acted as an Olympic Test Event at the picturesque Greenwich Park, here Lena Schoneborn (GER) and Robert Kasza (HUN) grabbed gold which also ensured them a place at next year’s Olympics. The Egyptian pair of Aya Medany and Yassar Hefny also secured their place at the Olympics by becoming African Champions. The European Championships added 16 more qualifiers to the Olympics and was won by the 2088 Olympic champions Lena Schoneborn (GER) and Andrei Moieev (RUS). The Military athletes shone at the 5th World Military Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Finally we follow the activities of President Schormann and Secretary General Bouzou for the month.

There were the 2 National Championships, being the Polish and German Opens, the 1st ever $100,000USD prize money Kremlin Cup and the NORCECA Championships. It was announced that Bulgaria would host the 2011 Biathle World Championships and we look forward to the 2011 World Cup Final. We get the feeling that the London 2012 Olympics are around the corner with the Modern Pentathlon London 2012 page being launched and the Modern Pentathlon Olympic Fencing Hall being opened. June’s feature is a look into the greatest Modern Pentathlete of all time Andreas Balzco and as always we look into the busy schedule of President Schormann and Secretary General Joël Bouzou.

[ Read more... ]May was packed with Modern Pentathlon action with 2 World Cup’s taking place in Hungary and China which produced 4 different gold medal winners. 12 athletes qualified for the London 2012 Olympics from the Asia/Oceanian Championships. Adam Marosi’s strong performance in the past few months saw him regain the World #1 ranking and 36 men and 36 women managed to qualify for the World Cup Final. As usual we follow the busy schedule of President Schormann and Secretary General Bouzou.
[ Read more... ]World Cup #2 went off with a bang in Sassari Italy with Rimsaite (RUS), Marosi (HUN) and China all picking up gold medals. We look at the success of the Youth Olympic Games in developing athletes through the system as many made their senior debut at World Cup #2. We learn all about the upcoming World Cup #3 and review the Masters event in Prague and the Women’s event in Spiez. Modern Pentathlon is again one of the first sports to sell out at the 2012 London Olympic Games and we look ahead to the 2011 World School Biathlon by reviewing the success of 2011. Finally as usual we follow the events of President Schormann and General Secretary Bouzou.

Big news in March is the 2011 Senior World Championships has been awarded to Moscow, Russia after Cairo, Egypt handed back the rights due to instability. We preview World Cup #2 in Sassari, Italy which is set to be a massive event with over 200 athletes participating. The 2011 South American Biathle and Great Britain Youth International were a great success and the World begins to get excited as the Modern Pentathlon 2012 London Olympic Games tickets go on sale. New Zealand gives us an interesting insight into the development of Modern Pentathlon in their country, and we follow the productive month of President Schormann and Secretary General Bouzou.
