With under a year to go until the2014 Youth Olympic games begin in the Chinese city of Nanjing, the YOG African Qualifying event will be the first opportunity for some of the best pentathletes on the continent to qualify for the big event next summer. Abidjan hosts the event with all the facilities within 50m walking distance from each other at the Cocodu University.
Scintillating Champion of Champions as Patte and Isaksen take titles

Two-days of stunning modern pentathlon at the Al Shaqab Centre in Doha ensured this edition of Champion of Champions hosted by Qatar Foundation in cooperation with Qatar Olympic Committee will live long in the memory. Saturday saw the women compete with Margaux Isaksen of USA defending her title with panache whilst France’s Christopher Patte claimed his maiden career victory by winning the men’s event on Sunday.

French 23-year-old Christopher Patte capped a sensational day for himself by grabbing his maiden title by winning Champion of Champions at the Al Shaqab Centre in Doha, Qatar. A quality swim was followed by a perfect ride and after starting the final event in pole, 8 seconds ahead of his nearest rival, he was simply unstoppable in the combined, never relinquishing his lead to claim a well-deserved victory.

36 Men moved into the Saturday’s Modern Pentathlon Final after 3 tough Qualification Groups were decided today. With the fence having been moved a day forward due to terrible weather conditions caused by Typhoon Trami, today saw the swim and combined events take place with some surprising results showing just how strong the competition is amongst the men.

Ivar Sisniega (MEX) 1st Vice President Mr Sisniega is a current Vice President. As a former pentathlete, Mr. Sisniega competed in three consecutive Olympic Games (80, 84, 88) achieving best individual rank (7th), and best team result (5th) at Los Angeles in 1984, and was Pan American Champion in 1990. Mr Sisniega also competed at the international level in swimming, fencing and triathlon. Mr Sisniega has extensive professional experience in the Sports industry, serving as Minister of Sport in Mexico from 1994-200, President of Guadalajara Football Club 2003-2006 and Director of Operations of the Guadalajara 2011 Pan American Games. He is currently serving as Special Advisor for the Veracruz 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games.
