Age: 55
Year and Location that you won WCH: 1982 ROMA (ITA)
How many years had you been training MP before you won: EXACTLY 13 YEARS
What other honours did you win: OLYMPIC GAMES
Your inspiration while competing: TRY TO DO MY BEST TO WIN
Your strongest discipline: RIDING, FENCING, SHOOTING
Your biggest rival while competing: I COMPETE FOR MANY YEARS: FROM PECIAK AND LEDNEV TO STAROSTIN AND MARTINEK
What was the "key factor" which let you win the gold medal: MY CAPACITY OF MENTAL CONCENTRATION.
How your life (sport and private life) change like after becoming World Champion? IT WAS A FUNDAMENTAL STEP TO LET ME WIN THE OLYMPIC GAMES
What do you remember from the championships: crowd, weather, memorable moments, hospitality, facilities etc (paint a picture of what the Championships were like back then): I WON IN ITALY SO I REMEMBER MY FANS, THE LOCATION, THE WEATHER AND OBVOUSLY THE LAST EVENT
How the sport has changed?: WITH THE ONE DAY FORMAT AND WITH THE COMBINED EVENT THE SPORT BECAME MORE SPECTACULAR BUT TECHNICALLY IT LOST SOMETHING IN TERMS OF QUALITY
How do you think you would stand competing against the current crop of athletes in the current format? THE SPORT IS TOO DIFFERENT. THE RIGHT QUESTION IS: HOW THESE ATHLETES COULD COMPETE IN OLD FORMAT?
Current life (involved in sport or not? If not what is he/she doing?): PROFESSOR AT UNIVERSITY OF SPORT IN CASSINO (ITALY)
in your opinion who could get into the „hall of fame” of MP and why/for what reason? I THINK IT'S HARD TO MAKE A COMPARATION, BUT I THINK THAT AT LEAST EVERY OLYMPIC CHAMPION SHOULD BE INTO IT
Tell us a bit about your family: MARRIED WITH THREE CHILDREN (NON COMPETITORS)
Are you still involved in MP and if so what capacity? ACTUALLY NOT SO MUCH ANYMORE EVEN IF I’VE JUST INVENTED THE "PARAPENTATHLON", MODERN PENTATHLON FOR DISABLE ATHLETES
