Omar El Geziry (EGY) and Sam Weale (GBR) have both missed out on qualification for the Men’s Final here in Chengdu China. El Geziry started first in the Combined Event and was shooting well before he was hit with a 40 second time penalty for not putting his pistol down correctly. Sam Weale just had an off day and was well below par in all the disciplines.

World #2 Aleksander Lesun was in fine form easily qualifying and will be a threat on Sunday. Robert Kaza (HUN) and Sam Sacksen (USA) also looked in good form and will be looking for a high position on Sunday.

Yuuki Win's Swim in Group B

Friday, 27 May 2011 04:16

Yuuki Fujimori (JPN) has easily won the swimming event in Group B. Fujimori secured a time of 2:00.35, which was quick enough to beat swimming speedsters Ricardo Rego (POR), Nicolas Woodbridge (GBR) and Auro Franceschini (ITA). Double Olympic Champion Andrei Moiseev (RUS) was back in 9th place and still has work to do if he is to make his 2nd final of the year.

World #2 Aleksander Lesun (RUS) has once again won the fencing in Group A at World Cup #4. Lesun scored 18 victories, the same amount as Szymon Staskiewicz (POL). Omar Elgeziry (EGY) was 1 victory behind on 16. Youth A World Champion Jiahao (CHN) had a solid fence and is well placed with 13 victories.

2010 European Silver Medalist Sam Weale (GBR) had a terrible fence finishing down in 24 position with only 8 victories and will have some work to do if he is going to qualify in the top 13.

Women's Qualification Review

Thursday, 26 May 2011 11:36

World #12 Evdokia Gretchicnikova (RUS) who initially missed out on making the final in 19th position has had a slice of luck with a Chinese athlete withdrawing due to injury so she now gets to line up in Saturday’s final.

Eudes Cruises to Victory in Group B

Thursday, 26 May 2011 10:49

Anais Eudes (FRA) has returned to form to win group A here at World Cup #4. Eudes crossed the line together with German Annika Schleu who did not miss a shot to make her first final of the year.

World #12 Evokia Gretchicnikova (RUS) has had a nightmare day and has missed out on qualification to the Women’s final at World Cup #4. Gretchicnikova never really got going as her usually strong fence let her down as she finished back in 15th, a position which she could not make up in the combined event finishing back in 19th position 1 spot off a finals position.

All the other big names managed to qualify in relative comfort, as World Cup rookie Janine Kohlmann (GER) finished first ahead if Iryna Khokhlova (UKR).  Event favourite Leila Gyenesei (HUN) had a tough time in the shooting as did Elodie Clouvel (FRA), however the both still qualified in style.
