After the excitement of a record breaking 47 relay teams and 94 athletes competing in all 5 disciplines in one day the 43rd Junior World Championships has been drawn to a close in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Freyja Prentice & Lydia Rosling (GBR) have stormed to the Women’s Junior World Championships Relay gold in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Korean pair of Woojin Hwang & Soengjin Kim has led from start to become the Men’s Relay Junior World Championships title in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Hungarian pair of Sarolta Kovacs and Bence Demeter has dominated from start to finish to win the gold medal in the Mixed Relay Junior World Championships.

Before the ride it looked like the young Ukrainian pair of Spas & Buriak had the Women’s relay gold medal sewn up after winning the fencing and coming 2nd in the swim.

The Korean pair of Hwang & Kim has let their opponents back into the race to win the Men's relay gold medal by dropping 104 points in the ride.

The German pair of Dogue & Krause scored 1124 in the ride to move within 22 seconds of the Korean pair before the combined event. Aniskevich & Radziuk from Belarus are a further 8 seconds back, so will consider themselves still in the hunt for gold.

Kovacs & Demeter has extended their lead after the riding, knocking down only 2 rails. The Hungarians are now a massive 102 points ahead of the Russians Gubaydullina & Shugarov who lost ground scoring 1080 in the ride and will start 25 seconds behind the Hungarians in the combined event.

Next back is the Chinese pair Zhang & Han and the Brits French & Myatt.

The Korean pair of Hwang / Kim have already opened up a massive lead in the Men’s relay after 2 disciplines.

The power couple of Sarolta Kovacs and Bence Demeter (HUN) have opened up a 22 point leading heading into the riding in the mixed relay.

Kovacs / Demeter have finished 2nd in the fencing with 27 victories and 1000 points and also 2nd in the swim with a combined time of 1:57.22 to be leading the strong Russian pair of Gubaydullina / Shugarov.

The Chinese pair Zhang / Han are in 3rd after winning the fencing ahead of the classy Koreans Jeong / Lee who are in 4th position.

Jamie Cooke (GBR) has produced one of the greatest comebacks in history to come from behind and become the 43rd Junior World Champion.

Kim Soengjin (KOR) has maintained his lead at the top of the table after a strong ride. Kim scored 1156 to give himself a 7 second lead over Pavel Iliashenko (KAZ) who scored 1160 in the ride. Jiahao Han (CHN) and Woojin Hwang (KOR) are next back to make an all Asian top 4.

The dangerous pair of Jamie Cooke (GBR) and Bence Demeter (HUN) had near perfect rides and will start 5th and 6th in the combined event, which is extraordinary considering the poor fencing performances they both had at the start of the day.

Swimming speedster Jamie Cooke (GBR) has showed why he holds the World Record by easily winning the swim in a time of 1:53.56.

Eslam Hamad (EGY) has showed impressive fencing form to win the discipline with 25 victories. The Egyptian was one victory ahead of Pavel Iliashenko (KAZ) and two ahead of Aleix Heredia Cives (ESP).

Sarolta Kovacs (HUN) has capped a memorable year by defending her Junior World Championships title in front of a large crowd at Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The men would have watched Sarolta Kovacs (HUN) and got inspiration for their own assault on the Junior World Championships title on Sunday.

Alise Fakhrutdinova (RUS) has held her nerve in the ride and will start 1st in the combined event.

2010 Youth A World Champion Zsofia Foldhazi has clocked a fantastic time of 2:10.20 in the swim to just beat Gulnaz Gubaydullina (RUS) in the Women’s Junior World Championships Final.

21 year old Alise Fakhrutdinova (RUS) has won 28 of her bouts to win the fencing at the Junior World Championships. Combined Event specialist Freyja Prentice (GBR) is well positioned in 2nd position, as is Anastasiya Spas (UKR) and former Junior World Champions Adrienn Toth (HUN) and Sarolta Kovacs (HUN).

Margaux Isaksen (USA) failed to produce the fencing form which won her the Pan American and Champion of Champions titles finishing 8 victories off the pace. Youth Olympic Games Champion Leidis Laura Moya (CUB) also did not fence to her potential and finished back in 21st position.

UIPM is excited to announce, that after the proposal of UIPM Sport Director, Jose Santos, in the 2011 Junior World Championships in Buenos Aires, 3 Relay competitions Men, Women and Mixed will be organized in one day (Monday 21 November).

The invitation for the 2011 World Junior Championships to be held in Buenos Aires from November 16 to November 21 2011 is now ready. Download the invitation form to enter your athletes in the biggest junior event of the year for their chance to be crowned the best junior Pentathlete in the World.
