Spence to Start 1st in the Combined Event.
Saturday, 10 March 2012 23:03Mhairi Spence (GBR) has held her nerve the best to score 1160 in the ride to jump above Lena Schoneborn (GER) and will start 2 seconds ahead of the Olympic Champion in the combined event.
After these top 2 athletes, there is a big gap of 15 seconds to 3rd placed Polina Structkova (BUL) who scored 1140 in the ride
3 riders Katarzyna Wojcik (POL), Heather Fell (GBR) and Melanie McCann (CAN) all scored a prefect 1200 to boost them up the leaders board.
With a steep hill included in the running course, this combined event will test all the pre season training done by the athletes in the winter.
Clouvel Quickest in the Pool
Saturday, 10 March 2012 19:42Elodie Clouvel (FRA) has again won the swimming event in a time of 2:08.52 in the women’s final at World Cup #1.
Schoneborn On Top After Fence
Saturday, 10 March 2012 17:48Lena Schoneborn (GER) is leading the World Cup #1 Women’s Final after a fantastic fencing performance. The Olympic Champion ended with 27 victories and only 8 defeats. Mhairi Spence (GBR) is in 2nd place 2 victories behind and Polina Struchtkova (BUL) is a further victory back.
Swimming speeder Elodie Clouvel (FRA) is well placed in 8th position and will surely move into contention after the swim.
World Champion Victoria Tereshuk (UKR) had a disappointing fence by her high standards and is back in 20th position 11 victories behind the German.

Sacksen Breaks Shooting World Record... Again
Saturday, 10 March 2012 01:14Sam Sacksen (USA) has broken the second World Record of the day after Jamie’s Cooke’s spectacular effort in the pool. Sacksen shot his first 5 shots in an unbelievable 8.1 seconds to smash his mark set at the 2011 World Championships by 0.7 seconds.
Sacksen said after: "I am shocked by this time, i am really happy. At the start of the year I was struggling with my shooting. So I went away and broke everything down and focused on the basics. I am stoked it worked. Hopefully I can do this again on Sunday."
Sacksen’s 5 shots were done in 0 2.31 4.3 6.19 8.1 which clinched his this honour.
This shooting series helped Sacksen to win group C and qualify for a home final on Sunday.
Moiseev Crashes out of World Cup #1

Moiseev in Danger of Not Qualifying
Friday, 09 March 2012 23:38The Ukraine pair of Pavlo Kirpulyanskyy and Oleksandr Mordasov have swept through the field in the group C fencing to finish 1st and 2nd respectively and jump to the top of the leaders board ahead of the combined event.
The massive news in this group is that double Olympic gold medallist and World Champion Andrei Moiseev (RUS) is back in 15th position and is real danger of spectacularly missing out on qualification into the final.
Moiseev is not the only big name to be in trouble with Edvinas Krungolcas (LTU) 18th, Ondrej Polivka (CZE) – 19th and Bence Demeter 23rd all looking down the barrel of a day off on Sunday.
