Tuesday, 10 July 2012 14:07

Team Russia represented by Ilia Frolov, Serguei  Karyakin and Alexander Savkin has had a stroke of luck to win the swimming in the men’s relay.

Despite being beaten by the Ukrainian team, in the pool. The Russians won overall as the Ukrainian Ruslan Nakonechnyi failed to get out of the pool when asked, so Ukraine were docked 40 pentathlon points which means they lose 10 seconds in the combined event.

This pushed Ukraine to 3rd in the swim, behind the Czech Republic.

Russia’s luck in the pool, combined with their skill in the fence, means they will head into the ride in 1st position ahead of Belarus and Ukarine.
